The Crazy Crafters Blog Hop July- New Catalogue!!

Welcome to my blog entry for this months blog hop! I'm excited to join in again!! I've had a quiet month of crafting, with the end of term, reports, illness and a back injury getting in the way of my creativeness. All a bit depressing, so I was excited to get back into my craft room this week and use some of the new products out of our new catalogue!!

This month I chose to do two cards, mainly because I couldn't decide which one I liked more.

This first card I've created using the new Work Of Art stamp set (pg 165). I used a range of inks, Strawberry Slush, Blackberry Bliss, Island Indigo, Tangelo Twist, Lucky Limeade (retired) and Real Red. I used the long paint brush sweep to stamp the diagonal lines across a 4"x6" piece of Whisper White cardstock. It wasn't quite long enough to go right across, so I just lined up the end of the stamp with the missing bit of stamping and filled in the gaps. Once I had finished stamping, I trimmed the piece down to a size I was happy with, and cut of 1" strip. To get the contrast of stripes, I flipped that piece around so the stripes were different colours. After I had done all of this, I realised it was missing something, so I decided I would use some Iridescent Ice embossing powder to give it a bit of a sparkle. I used a Versamark embossing pen, which holds the same ink as the ink pad, but it's easier to use as it's like a marker. If you don't have the marker, you could always stamp back over the stripes with Versamark ink.
To finish it off, I rounded the corners, and stuck over a piece of basic black cardstock that I had covered with Iridescent Ice embossing powder as well. It is stuck to a 4 1/2"x 6" Basic Black top folding card base. I put a piece of Whisper White with its corners rounded inside so you can write on it easily.

I finished the sentiment with a 1 3/8" circle punch and the pansy flower punch. I used a ink blending tool to colour the paper with Coastal Cabana ink (as I didn't have any Coastal Cabana paper) and brushed it around the sides!

The second card was a little simpler. I used a Strawberry Slush card base. Whisper White backing, and stamped the Hello There sentiment from the Hello There hostess set in Versamark ink and embossed with gold embossing powder. I cut a speech bubble out of one of the Project Life journaling cards from the Every Day Adventure card collection. I outlined the speech bubble in a Primrose Petals marker, and used Linen thread as a small embellishment with some large rhinestones.
