Crazy Crafters September Blog Hop ~ Holiday Catalogue!

Welcome to our September Blog Hop! This month we are using new products from our holiday catalogue. I was excited to take part this month as I haven't been able to craft much lately.

You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog - Stamping with Laura Jane or may have come from the person previous to me in the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all the projects. At the moment you are visiting Laura Britten.

The card I created used the Jingle All the Way bundle, sponging and heat embossing. I created this using inspiration from Pinterest.

I first sponged the background using Elegant Eggplant, Rich Razzleberry and Night of Navy ink. The moon was originally sponged in Whisper White Craft ink, however I wasn't happy with the look of it. Instead I embossed the moon with White embossing powder. I then covered the background with Versamark ink and embossed over it with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. I cut out the santa and sleigh from the Sleigh Ride thinlits. I then cut both out with the same sized Circle thinlit, and cut a slightly larger Elegant Eggplant circle to go behind it.

The card base is Whisper White cardstock, with a circle cut out of the middle and Elegant Eggplant layered on top. The sentiment was stamped in Elegant Eggplant and cut out and layered over the circle cut out.

Some recent projects

I have been fairly slack with my blogging, so here are some projects that I've worked on in the past few months.

Challenge 2015

So I blogged a few months ago about a challenge I had given myself to use each one of my stamp sets before the new year, and the ones I didn't use were on the chopping block.. Well I failed miserably with that challenge! In between work, report writing, having to move house and Christmas, I really only had the chance to set my craft room back up a week ago to full working order. So... Instead I have devised a new challenge
My new challenge came about because I was sick of going onto my Pinterest page and not being able to find what I really wanted because they had funny tags on them, their descriptions didn't match, not to mention the fact that I stupidly pinned all of my inspiring cards onto the one board- big mistake!
This week I've put my back out, so apart from laying down or standing up, I haven't been able to do much, so I have been organising all of my pins into different boards and it got me thinking, how many of these pins will I realisitically recreate?
So I'm going to challenge myself- each week I have to create at least 4 cards CASE'd from Pinterest. This is obviously going to challenge me and hopefully I'll get better use out of my forgotten stamp sets.
Anyone else up for the challenge?!?! Probably not, You'd have to be a little bonkers to try this at home!

Crazy Crafters October Blog Hop ~ CASE a project from Pinterest

Welcome to my blog! You should have come from the very talented Carolina Evans blog. If this is your first stop, that's ok! Follow the link below my blog post to follow onto Sue Wdowik's This month the Crazy Crafters team decided to CASE a project from Pinterest as our inspiration. I tend to do this a lot anyway, but I really wanted to do one specific card justice after wanting to CASE it for a few months now.

I chose this card made by the talented Anne Marie Hile (http://stampinanne.blogspot.com.au/) I love how bright it is, and I loved all the layering. I wanted to make it my own, so I tweaked it a little!!

This was my first attempt at the case. Now I purchased the same sentiment that Anne Marie had used on her original card, but it hasn't come in the mail on time, so I made do with another retired set I had in my stash "Tagtastic", which was a hostess set. I made a lot of this card with retired products, because I had the laying around and was able to match a lot of the colours- I used Yoyo Yellow cardstock as my card base, with a Real Red scalloped layer. I then used the decorative dots embossing folder and some Very Vanilla cardstock to make the embossed layer.I then used some Summer Smooches DSP which is also retired. I then used the decorative dots embossing folder and some Very Vanilla cardstock to make the embossed layer. The butterflies were cut out using Real Red, Yoyo Yellow, Island Indigo, Gumball Green, Elegant Eggplant, Strawberry Slush cardstocks, and were layered on top of one another. Two larger butterflies with a smaller butterfly in the middle. I used the Butterfly Embosslits (still current) to cut out all of my butterflies, and cut the rows of rhinestones you get in our packets of rhinestones into sections of three to put on the middle of each butterfly. To finish off, as I said I used the Tagtastic Hostess set with the "Congrats" sentiment on some Island Indigo cardstock, stamped in Versamark in and embossed in gold embossing powder, and punched it out with my large oval punch. The scalloped oval is punched from some scrap cardstock I coated in Versamark ink and then embossed with gold embossing powder. This made sure that my sentiment matched the backing paper. I popped all my pieces up with dimensionals.

For this card I made it the same was as the above, however I tried to use more current products, so that this card could be cased using current products as well. The differences in this card were the Daffodil Delight cardstock I used as the base. I also used Daffodil Delight to cut out the butterflies. And the striped paper is out of our Sweet Taffy DSP from our current catalogue. The sentiment is constructed similarly to the other card, again I coated a scrap piece of card and embossed it to create a matching piece of card for the sentiment embossing. I used Teeny Tiny Sentiments for the Congratulations sentiment, and also embossed that in gold.

Although they are different, I really think this card design is fabulous and I truly enjoyed CASE-ing this card!! Any questions, please leave them below and I will answer them when I can. Happy Stamping. Laura.

Stamp set Challenge- Day One and Two

Ok so for those who don't know, I set myself a challenge while I was visiting my sister in Ballarat this week.. I challenged myself to use all of my stamp sets in some way before Christmas- otherwise they needed to go. I found that when I first started stamping, I went nuts and bought as many sets as I could. I have a huge collection of stamps and don't pick them up because they aren't my "favourites". So I decided I needed to use them!
Here are a few of my creations, including some bookmarks I made with an incredibly ludicrously priced stamp set I bought at the end of last year and haven't used...!!
